Attorney at Forefront of Law and Technology
Attorney Gail Gottehrer is at the forefront of law and technology, helping her clients innovate and address the risks associated with new technology.
A partner with Axinn, Veltrop & Harkrider, LLP, she specializes in technology-related litigation, privacy-related counseling and litigation, and workplace-related class actions.
A recognized thought leader, Gottehrer believes the most important quality women leaders should have is self-confidence. “Take charge of your career from the outset, and don’t hesitate to be assertive,” she advises.
Gottehrer’s colleagues say she works tirelessly to support areas driven by her passions. Among them are modernizing legal education and preparing law students for today’s technology-driven law practice; encouraging girls and women to become interested in STEM careers; and helping the legal profession become an environment where women can realize their personal and professional objectives and succeed in legal careers without sacrificing their personal goals.
Gottehrer mentors women associates through the firm’s women’s initiative, called AWARE. Her colleagues say she’s made AWARE a vehicle to encourage women associates to be confident, define and expand their professional and personal goals, and take the steps necessary to advance toward those goals. She lives by the saying be grateful for today and remember tomorrow is not promised.
Gottehrer is the vice president of the Board of Directors of the Greater Hartford Legal Aid Foundation and a member of the Board of Directors of Connecticut Appleseed. She’s also director of the Connecticut Chapter of Women in eDiscovery, a Fellow at the Center for Legal Innovation at Vermont Law School, and teaches a law class at Columbia University. She holds a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
