Persistence and Accountability – Keys to Success
Amy Magnotta has portfolio management responsibilities for Brinker Capital’s multi-billion dollar asset allocation investment program, Destinations. As a co-manager, she’s at the forefront of both asset allocation and investment manager decisions for the entire program.
When challenges arise, Magnotta’s colleagues said she always finds practical ways to do the right thing. She’s confident in executing widespread portfolio management responsibilities and has successfully yielded results. Since she joined the management team, the portfolio expanded its mandate to include alternative asset classes, assets under management grew from $1 billion to more than $10 billion, and the brand was extended to include additional suites of portfolios, including ETF-based strategies.
She says as a woman leader the most important qualities one should have are persistence and accountability. “You must always advocate for yourself; be confident,” she said. “You only get out what you put in.”
Magnotta says her biggest career leap to date is her current position. “Thousands of individual clients trust that we will help them reach their long-term financial goals, and I take this responsibility very seriously,” she said.
From a team perspective, her colleagues say she’s always willing to listen to others and encourages creative ideas from the broader investment group, sales team, and advisors. She’s also committed to boosting the ranks of Brinker Capital’s female leaders and mentors the company’s interns and female professionals.
Magnotta graduated from Lehigh University with a B.S. in Finance and is a CFA charter holder. She’s also a member of the CFA institute and the CFA Society of Philadelphia.
