As senior managing director, Sheryl Betance leads Stretto’s corporate restructuring practice, including training and mentoring a deep bench of experienced consultants located across the country. With a focus on claims and noticing services, she has contributed to the design of Stretto’s flexible and scalable case management software, processes and procedures. Bringing more than 20 years of industry experience to her role, she is hands-on with professional development, offering one-on-one training and collaborating with her team members to develop and implement standard procedures that maximize efficiency. Sheryl is respected by her colleagues as an industry expert and as a go-to problem solver for ad-hoc projects that require out-of-the-box solutions.
Sheryl has earned a proven track record of successfully administering complex, large-scale Chapter 11 cases within a broad range of industry sectors. Joining Stretto in 2018, she led the development of the firm’s claims and noticing services platform, created from the ground up to offer a best-in-class, proprietary, cloud-based system combined with professional-level client service to meet case management needs for every stage of the corporate-restructuring process. More recently, she led the deployment of AI-enabled tools and capabilities designed to create new efficiencies for Stretto clients and their stakeholders.
Sheryl possesses vast expertise in virtually every aspect of corporate-restructuring administration based on her in-depth experience in developing and executing on solutions and strategies to streamline the Chapter 11 process. She has overseen more than 100 cases throughout her career across many industries, including retail, restaurant, food & beverage, automotive, energy and healthcare. Sheryl is highly regarded by her peers for her ability to mobilize teams and tailor solutions to meet the needs of every case regardless of the challenges involved. She also serves as an effective and supportive manager to her direct-reports, providing the necessary resources and direction for them to achieve their goals.
Sheryl has cultivated many long-term working relationships with her industry colleagues in the bankruptcy sector and continues to work with many professionals that she has known since the beginning of her career. As the needs of Stretto’s clients increase and expand, she continually seeks new efficiencies and solutions to serve them while expanding the capabilities of the corporate-restructuring services team.
Outside of her career accomplishments and professional endeavors, Sheryl is actively involved in her local community where she donates her time to local youth organizations, including Girls Scouts of America, AYSO and her local high school athletic booster club.
