Cybersecurity Expert Strategically Leading Comcast
With 25 years of information security and technology leadership expertise across a number of industries, Myrna Soto is a well-respected cybersecurity expert and one of the most senior women at Comcast Corporation.
As Comcast’s senior vice president and global chief information security officer, Soto leads the alignment and development of cyber and data security strategies and policies across the entire Comcast enterprise, including Comcast Cable, NBCUniversal and Comcast Spectacor. She works closely with technology and security teams to develop cyber security, network infrastructure security, data security strategies, and operational efficacy in security programs, policies, and technology risk management.
Soto says being a woman in her industry provides a great diversity of prospective, and she pays it forward by serving as mentor to many at Comcast. Soto is the executive champion of Comcast’s Hispanic employee resource group Unidos, an executive management committee board member of the Hispanic IT Executive Council, and a member on the board of directors of CMS Energy, Consumers Energy, and Spirit Airlines. She also serves on the board of trustees for Cabrini University.
Soto believes the most important qualities a woman leader should have are integrity, willingness to take risks, and perseverance. “Be patient – success is not immediate, nor is it in the most obvious places,” she said.
Her expertise includes cyber security experience in the media, telecom, financial services, hospitality, insurance/risk management and gaming/entertainment sectors. Prior to joining Comcast, Soto served as Chief Information Security Officer and Vice President of Information Technology Governance for MGM Resorts International. She’s also held senior leadership positions with American Express, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Lines, and Kemper Insurance.
Her numerous accolades include the 2015 CSO Compass Award, and recognition by SC Magazine among the “Top 10 Power Players for Women in Security.” She holds a bachelor degree from Florida International University, and an MS in industrial psychology and an MBA from Nova Southeastern University.
Words she lives by: “Challenge yourself and others – never settle for the status quo, be a disruptor.”
