Providing Strategic Direction in Global Marketplace
Jill Brannon decided a career in the transportation business was a good fit when she first traveled outside of the United States. “I knew I wanted to work in a thriving, energetic global company, and FedEx has blessed me with the opportunity to learn, lead, and work with terrific people and give back to local communities around the world,” she said.
As senior vice president of sales in Europe, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa, Brannon provides strategic direction for the sales activities for the FedEx portfolio of services. She leads a team that includes large global portfolio solutions, small company services, and geographic and sector selling; as well as overseeing sales operations, planning, and analysis.
She believes the most important thing a leader can do is take purposeful action. “This includes having a vision, understanding what to do and how to do it, and communicating it often and consistently, starting from the strategy all the way down to celebrating success,” Brannon said.
Brannon’s career at FedEx spans three decades. She assumed her current role earlier this year after serving as senior vice president of FedEx International Sales. In addition to other executive roles in the company, she has served as a director in worldwide services, where she focused on global supply chain and logistics solutions for the high-tech sector. She describes moving to FedEx headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee, to assume a strategic planning position as her biggest career leap. “I experienced the depth of how to get work in a successful global super brand company,” Brannon said.
Brannon is a member of the FedEx diversity and inclusion executive steering committee, where her colleagues say she has been instrumental in creating the vision of a diverse and inclusive environment. She has served on the boards of the US-ASEAN Business Council and the International Children’s Heart Foundation.
Brannon lives by the words “please” and “thank you.” She holds degrees in International Business and French from Lenoir-Ryhne College.
