Connecting Candidates with Clients
As a master recruiter, Carrie Nebens is a staffing powerhouse on the West Coast, known for strategically connecting the right employees with the right companies.
As the owner of Equis Staffing, she’s a natural connector with a devout passion for the staffing industry. Excellent matches are her standard and it’s reflected in her reputation. “People drive the economy and when I make a great match, I share the jubilation with the candidate and client. The right match makes all the difference,” Nebens said.
About a decade ago, she took 20 years of staffing expertise and founded Equis Staffing, a WBENC firm that found its niche providing top tier IT and finance talent to Los Angeles entertainment companies. Today, some of the largest business operations in Southern California outsource their staffing to Equis.
Nebens says she enjoys helping eager job seekers with talent find the right fit. “Similarly, it is rewarding to watch an organization advance as a result of that new employee,” she said. Her colleagues say working under her is an invaluable education for any professional. She’s a woman who chooses to punch in at 5:30 a.m. on the West Coast, because “its 8:30 EST and we’re already chasing the day.” She mentors many and is known to tap into her expensive professional network to help grow someone’s career.
Nebens is the recipient of numerous achievement awards in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, as well as Inc. 5000 recognitions.
Nebens lives by the saying: “Be true to yourself.” She says the important characteristics of a woman leader are decisiveness and honesty. “When you are a leader who is blazing a trail, at times you must follow your gut instinct and make decisions that will advance progress. You may not always make the best decisions, but if you are honest, your moral compass will guide you in the right direction,” she said.
“Work is a part of life that not everyone enjoys, but I help people find jobs they love, and the organizations they employ are better for it,” she said. Nebens holds a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Maryland.
